Brittany Duarnenez Camping de Karvel

We have just returned from the Camping De Karvel caravan and camping site on the west coast of Brittany and have really enjoyed the stay. Although we were only able to choose the cheapest caravan, we were really impressed with the caravan interior and layout. The weather could have been better but we still managed to find lots of places to go in the vicinity: The caravan site itself - excellent beach (10 mins walk) Duarnenez - Sailing/boat museum and hundreds of unusual boats Quimper - street festivals and market Brest - Oceanarium better then the ones in the UK Point du Raz - Great views and walks .

Camping Municipal De Chalons-en-champagne

July 2004 Just the place for a stopover on the way south. Very clean, next to a lake/park/ tennis courts etc. There's a tv/games room if you're that way inclined. We arrived after 9 p.m which wasn't a problem & the cafe / bar stayed open well past 10 so we were able to eat and have a cooling beer. The people running the cafe (the owners?) were very friendly and jolly and made us feel really welcome. They only offer a limited range, but go for the omelettes they're really nice. The sausages turned out to be 3 tinned frankfurters, a bit disappointing.

Camping De La Roche Percee

After spending many summer holidays here as a child we decided to take our children back here for a trip down memory lane and were not disappointed. This site is set 400 metres from a lovely clean sandy cove and 1km from Beg meil which is easily walkable. The site itself has a small outdoor heated pool and single flume. There is a bar, play area for children and shop. I believe there is also a take away service in high season. The facilities are very clean and well maintained and pitches also well maintained, bordered by hedgerows. This is a site for those looking for peace and quiet rather than lots of entertainment and action. The owners are english and very helpful.

Le Chapponet

Jul - Aug 2002 Fairly small site within walking distance of Boulangerie, boucherie, and La Presse. Likewise Lidl's is only a short walk away and a small cafe/restaurant. There is a market in the town once a week and the nearest beach is within walking distance about 0.5 mile. Excellent toilets facilities, never crowded even in high summer and immaculately clean. There a number of static's, French owned, as well as tour operators, KeyCamp and French Life. The touring pitches are dotted about amongst the other units which makes for quite a good mix. Generally Dutch, French, German and Brits.

Camping Les Dunes

2002 There are a limited number of pitches for tents/caravans/campervans. Site had excellent clean pool complex, 2 slides (not the scariest we have seen), excellent restaurant, takeaway, bar, small supermarket (reasonably priced), tennis court, 3 indoor table tennis, variety of evening entertainment (usually outdoors) inc disco, karaoke (not as bad as we had expected!), folk dancing, real variety of live musicians/bands etc. Washing machines, showers are clean etc.

Orangerie De Lanniron

August 2004 This was our first time in France, and despite very wet weather for the whole 2 weeks we did enjoy our holiday. This site has very large pitches and all are private with lots of trees. Even though the town of Quimper is only ten minutes by car and only half an hour walking from the rear of the site, you felt as if you were in the middle of the country. The site was kept very clean with clean toilets and showers. Kids play areas were great my 7 year old went into the kids club each day and thoroughly enjoyed himself. Pool was kept clean and camping is well away from the bar and restaurant so no disturbances there. Would recommend this site highly. There is plenty to do in the area if the weather is bad and please, please visit Pointe de la Torche beach it really is breathtaking. The restaurant on site is excellent and well worth a visit.

Camping Les Dunes

July 2003 The first impressions count as they say, well we got a very friendly greeting when we arrived, nothing was too much for the assistants always smiling, (even when i used to go in to cash my travellers cheques and empty their till). The site is very well maintain and showers and toilets cleaned 3 or 4 times a day. All the usual stuff on site to do if you don't want to go out. the pitch are very big and spacious, Their is a shop on site but if you want more the local Hypermarket is a 2 min drive, in the area there are plenty of things to do.. Oceanopolis at Brest, Quimper its self is quite charming, The Grottos at Morgat, the list is endless, but a boat trip to the Iles De Glenin from Benodet is a must on a hot sunny day, or a walk around Haulguet and its huge boulders. We have used a lot of sites in the UK and some in France but this site takes some beating. .

Camping Municipal Du Bléré - La Gâtine

This is a very well equipped and cared for site that well deserves it’s 3 star rating. I have no hesitation in recommending the site to potential visitors and will certainly use the site again myself in the future. Location Bléré is a small town (population 4647) located on the River Cher, a tributary of the mighty River Loire. Bléré is situated about 7km (4 miles) west and downstream of the magnificent Château de Chenonceau. Bléré is also 25 km from Tours and 220km from Paris. It is ideally located for visitors who are "just passing through" or those who wish to stay for a longer visit and enjoy visiting the many beautiful Châteaux of the Loire area.
